Google Zeitgeist ’13

I was very lucky to be flown to Arizona in September to install a large scale string piece at the Google Zeitgeist Conference. My husband came with me and we were allocated two assistants when we got there, as we only had three days to install the piece—one day of nailing and two days of winding.

The theme of the conference was “Here’s to the Curious” which is what the words say along the full length of the piece, in “Google colours” and then the Zeitgeist logo is in the bottom right-hand corner.

It was a fun piece to do and I would love to work on some more large-scale installations. It took just under 7000 nails and 67 balls of string to complete. After the conference was over, the piece was disassembled and the resort corridor returned to normal.

You can view highlights of the conference below.

This time-lapse video was filmed on a GoPro, which is ironic, as one of the speakers at the conference was Nick Woodman, CEO of GoPro. I wonder if he noticed it filming away in the corridor?
