This is my entry for this year’s Positive Posters competition. For too long, people have viewed themselves as separate and I wanted to represent a multitude of individuals using the nails, and then coloured string to show how we are all interconnected, and that together, we can make something beautiful.

Beautiful work. I love the thread hanging out on the bottom right.
What was the thought process on deviating form a rigid grid of nails for the letterforms?
Hi Cale
Thank you very much.
I have blogged about the process here (http://www.tactiletypography.com) if you would like to see photos, but I essentially drew up the grid in Illustrator and then moved the pins around when they intersected with the type.
absolutely stunning.
This is so incredibly beautiful!
OMG ! this is excellent. I wonder how long it took !!!
Thanks everyone. It took about 10 hours. You can read about the process here. http://www.tactiletypography.com

Thank you for sharing your artwork. Love your ideas and imagination. Saw this work at the liveworm office this morning and thought it was great.
I love this. This is beautiful.
wow! amazing! absolutely gobsmacked at the amazingness of your piece!
So awesome. Do you dye the sting yourself? I looks like the strings just smoothly transition in color but upon color inspection you can see that they are all different color strings. Beautiful work.
Demasiado … hermoso:.
Inspirador!!…<3
Wow, that so amazing! What origally prompted you to think of the words ‘we are all part of the same thing’? I love yor work Dominique!
Hi Dominique,
I am a year 12 student, in the initial process of creating a major work for visual arts. Your piece have completely captivated me and I am interested in using it as inspiration for my own work. Apart from Tactile Topography, where would I be able to find more info about the process?
Thanks in advanced.
Hi Ariella, I’m afraid I have only documented this process on this site and the tactile typography blog. What else would you like to know?
Hi Dominique,
Thanks so much for replying!
I was just wondering:
How did you plan the spacing of the nails?
Is the process of winding completely random?
Thanks so much!
Ariella
