You Don't Need to Be an Expert if You Get Results

Results build authority

This week, I want to share a spark to help you focus on systemising your results process to build authority and overcome imposter syndrome.

You have knowledge that can help people, but you're not a recognised expert.

Even if you don't have a formal qualification or a background as a recognised expert, you still have valuable knowledge or insights that can help others. Don't let the fact that you don't have a PhD in a topic hold you back from sharing your knowledge and helping people.

Imposter syndrome can prevent people from sharing valuable knowledge.

Imposter syndrome is the feeling that you are not qualified or competent enough to be doing what you are doing, even when you have achieved success. This syndrome can prevent people from sharing their knowledge and insights, even if they have valuable information to offer. It is essential to recognise it for what it is and overcome imposter syndrome to share your knowledge and help others.

You can help people by turning your process into a signature solution.

One way to share your knowledge and help others is to turn your process or approach into a signature solution. This process can be a product, service, or framework that helps people achieve specific results or solve specific problems. By packaging your knowledge in this way, you can help others solve their problems and build your authority on the topic because you get results.

"Nothing amplifies your authority like a signature system"—Aaron Fletcher

Your signature solution achieves results and establishes your authority on the topic.

By consistently helping people achieve results through your signature solution, you will build authority that way and establish yourself as an expert, whether you have a PhD or not. Results speak louder than qualifications when building a business, and your signature solution is a verified system for achieving results.

Here's the step-by-step breakdown of the process

Step 1: Identify your area of expertise.

The first step is to identify the specific knowledge or insights that you have to offer. This could be a skill, experience, or understanding you have developed through your career, hobby, personal interests, or overcoming your struggles.

Step 2: Define your audience and transformation.

Once you have identified your topic, you must define your target market. This includes identifying the people who are most likely to benefit from your knowledge and who are willing and able to pay for it. You will also need to identify the problems they are currently struggling with and the transformation your solution can provide.

Step 3: Overcome imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome can be a significant barrier to sharing knowledge and helping others. Unfortunately, every creative business owner I've ever coached suffers from it. Recognising and overcoming this feeling and building your authority on a topic by confidently sharing your expertise is essential.

Step 4: Turn your process into a signature solution.

To share your knowledge in a structured and organised way, you can turn your process or approach into a signature solution. This process can be a product, service, or framework that helps people achieve specific results or solve specific problems. You can turn the process into a repeatable product by systemising your results process and giving that system a name and visual framework.

Step 5: Achieve results and establish your authority.

By consistently helping people achieve results with your signature solution, you will establish yourself as an authority on the topic by default. This is where testimonials come in handy. Your happy customers sharing their results does more for building authority than any expert qualification.

Step 6: Share your knowledge and insights.

Finally, sharing your knowledge and insights with others is essential to establish your authority on the topic. This can include publishing research or articles, giving talks or presentations, teaching others, building a following, or building a solid online presence. The beauty of a signature framework is that it can be turned into a book, course, podcast series, talk, and so on. Of course, you can change the delivery mechanism to suit your audience, but the framework remains the same.
